More Surgery...

Mom found out yesterday she's got to go in for more surgery. After being tested, the peripheral tissues of the tumor were found to have a bit more cancer--and one more lymph node as well. She has done splendidly this week--and though it's no thrill to find out she'll be going in for more and living this week {or step} all over again, she's doing relatively okay with the news. They have an MRI planned for next Monday--just a regular precautionary measure, and then the surgery is planned the following Monday {3.29.10}. Thank you to so many who brought meals and came by for a visit this week--who sent cards and well wishes, brought flowers, and just showed love to her. They have been greatly appreciated and Mom feels so touched by your thoughtful words and actions.

She got her hair done yesterday {Thank you, Kerry for your in-home service!} She feels like a new woman, well--almost...but really, I'm sure all of the women out there can attest to what "having your hair done" can really do for you. We've got big plans this weekend as we host another Dunford Women's Retreat at her home. For those of you who don't know what this is, it is a retreat for all the women from our mom's side to gather together for a weekend of total fulfillment. We teach, we learn, we laugh, we cry. We share struggles and strengthen one another. We talk about being better wives, mothers, and grandmothers. We share stories about each other, our ancestors, and how we can do better. When the question was raised on whether or not our Mom would be up for hosting this retreat in it's 8th year, the only conclusion was that we don't dare NOT do it.

Coming soon. More posts and pictures!

  4. Virtual hugs, pleading prayers, and all the love we can muster coming your way from the Lamberts. What an inspiration you are now (and always have been) to us. Remember that God has not given us the spirit of fear--but of POWER, and of LOVE, and of a SOUND MIND! You are an example of all three and we love you. LeeR and Karen

  5. 'Just checking in to see if there was any news about Gayle's surgery scheduled for yesterday. How did it go? Sorry I missed catching anyone at home when I called today. When will it be known whether everything was found this time?

Our thoughts and prayers have been with you regularly since your surgery two weeks ago,

    Rob and Jill
